#YOSSIBOSS OF THE WEEK: JAMI (FEMME FIT)

JAMI is the founder/owner of FEMME FIT. Femme fit opened its online store in 2015 and has quickly become known for its active wear collections for women. Her vision is to create active wears that are inspiring and enduring, and can compliments the characteristics of strong women around the world. When Jamiris isn't working on her business, you can find her working out, doing yoga, eating healthy or looking for healthier ways to improve lives. Where are you from?

I was born in the Dominican Republic but raised in the mean streets of Brooklyn, NY (Bushwick to be exact).

What was your childhood ambition?

As a child I always wanted to be a movie star. I briefly pursued this dream and dragged my mom to castings left and right but then I grew up and had bigger goals in mind. I wanted to leave a greater impact on this world (still trying to figure out how).

What was your first job?

Worked in a library at the tender age of 16 stacking books, I loved it! I worked 3 hours a day after school, I thought I was a 'real' person then.

What time is your alarm clock?

6am.. snooze till 7.

How did you start YOUR ONLINE STORE?

There are two causes that are near and dear to my heart and are the reasons why I started my online store; health (mind, body, and soul) and women's rights. I wanted to create a brand that would empower both through cool active wear which embodies the characteristics of a strong woman. Being strong is whatever you define it to be, not what anyone else tells you it is.

What’s a perfect day to you?

A nice autumn day, where I can wear some comfy clothes, cruise through the Union Square farmer's market with my family while enjoying some hot apple cider... Bliss!

What is your most treasured possession?

My son, he's three.

What is your proudest moments?

Graduating with my MBA. Which is unheard of for a Latina from Bushwick.

What is your biggest Challenge?

Communication! I'm usually a big believer of "If you want something done, do it yourself", so I usually never ask for help nor communicate to people that I'm struggling, which sometimes leaves me in a tough spot.

What is your favorite YossiBox item?

The Fix-It Coffee scrub, I love that stuff! It leaves my skin feeling silky smooth.
